Topic: Living by The Spirit

Scripture Reading: Daniel 1:1-16, Romans 8:14

Main Text
Daniel 1:8

'But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.'

There is a popular saying that 'when you go to Rome, do what Romans do'. But as a child of God your manner of life is not determined by a particular situation or environment but by the leadings of the Holy Spirit.

Daniel, a Hebrew who was in exile had been exalted in the province of Babylon which required certain preferential treatments to suit his endeavour but he forfeited all the pleasures he was entitled to knowing that his God was able to see him through and after the set period, Daniel together with the three Hebrews appeared better in features and fatter in flesh than all the young men who ate the portion of the king's delicacies.

The decisions we take should always reflect God's will and purpose for our lives but not what situations demand.
What you have purposed in your heart determines your response to circumstances in life.

The Holy Bible reminds us that 'For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.' (Romans 8:14) Our sonship in Christ is determined by our actions through the leadings of the Holy Spirit.
What leads you in life?

Selah

Prayer:
Lord God, please lead me by Your Spirit in all things according to Your will for my life in Jesus' name. Amen

Have a blessed week!
Shalom
