Topic: The Great Invitation

Scripture Reading: Isaiah 55:6-7

Main Text
Isaiah 55:6-7

'Seek the Lord while He may be found,
Call upon Him while He is near.
Let the wicked forsake his way,
And the unrighteous man his thoughts;
Let him return to the Lord,
And He will have mercy on him;
And to our God,
For He will abundantly pardon.'

The Holy Bible says the greatest treasure to be found is not silver or gold, but the Lord. Silver and gold, wealth and other treasures, will never truly satisfy us, and they will all one day perish. But the treasure we have in God will truly meet the deepest needs of our souls, and it is eternal. So it is GOD whom we should seek.

The Hebrew word here for “seek” is “darash”, it means to “seek”, or to read something repeatedly and study. A related word in the ancient world means to “beat a path” around something, because you are repeatedly going to it. That tells us something about what it means to “seek the Lord.”

Whenever one decides to seek the Lord, there is an extra step to be taken to relate to God. It requires more than just going for a church service or performing certain religious acts.

While we are still alive, the Lord can always be found but there comes a time when death ceases this opportunity.
God's grace and mercy abound unto salvation when He's called upon.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for this great invitation. Grant me grace to seek and call upon You at all times in Jesus' name. Amen

Tell a neighbour about Jesus today. Have a fruitful weekend!
Shalom
