Topic: Hearing God's Voice

Scripture Reading: 1 Kings 19:11-12, Psalm 46:10

Main Text
1 Kings 19:11-12

'Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.'

We are apt to look for God in the storm, the earthquake, and the fire, and to overlook God in the still small voices of nature.

In many circumstances, situations tend to speak to us but it's always worthwhile waiting for God's voice to act upon amidst such experiences.

It's important to recognise God’s presence amidst all the noise that surrounds us, and focusing and really listening. There are distractions in our lives that work to pull our focus away from our trust in God.

Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God.”
It’s in stillness, not busyness, that we tune our spiritual ears to hear the voice of God. The Lord always speaks to us in that “STILL, small voice” but often it’s drowned out amid all the turmoil of our daily lives.

When we hear the voice of the Lord, it changes us inside. It dispels our fears and causes faith to arise in our hearts (Romans 10:17). The voice of the Lord also changes us on the outside. It causes us to talk differently and act differently.

Prayer:
LORD God, please empower me to hear Your voice in all circumstances in Jesus' mighty name. Amen

May God be gracious unto you!
Shalom
