Topic: Desiring God II

Scripture Reading: Hebrews 13:1-6, 1 Timothy 6:6-10

Main Text
Hebrews 13:5-6

'Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say:
“The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear.
What can man do to me?”

To be discontented implies that God has not provided us with what we need. Discontent was the sin of Israel in the wilderness. God had just miraculously delivered them from slavery in Egypt and He was miraculously meeting their needs, yet they grumbled about their hardships and threatened to return to Egypt.

Contentment comes when we trust that God will surely provide what we need.
The Holy Bible says that "Godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out." (1 Timothy 6:6-7)

What will matter when all is said and done in life is Who you have in you and not what you have.

Contentment comes through building your life on God Himself, not on something you want Him to give you. Selah

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I receive grace to be content in life and desire more of You to Your glory in Jesus' mighty name. Amen

Tell a neighbour about Jesus Christ today. God bless you!
Shalom
