Topic: Vessels For Honour
Scripture Reading: 2 Timothy 2:20-21, Ephesians 2:10
Main Text
2 Timothy 2:20-21
'But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.'
The gold and silver vessels are kept clean so that they may be used for honorable purposes, such as dinner parties. The wood and earthenware vessels are used for dishonorable purposes, perhaps in the kitchen or to carry out garbage or other menial activities. They often get broken and are cheaply replaced.
Who we are is determined not by genetics, nor our environment, nor by what others decide for us, but by the choices we make concerning how we will be used in this world. If you allow your body, mind, heart, and spirit to be caught up in lower activities, you will be forming yourself into a vessel of lower things. If your body, mind, heart, and spirit are used for noble purposes, you will become a vessel for great and wondrous things.
Everyone is a vessel but how you set yourself apart from sin will determine your use. We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works.
The Spirit of God searches out whatever doesn't please God in every vessel and cleanses us through the blood of Jesus Christ making us fit for the Master's use.
Prayer:
LORD God, I set myself apart as a vessel for honour for Your purpose in Jesus' mighty name. Amen
Tell a neighbour about Jesus Christ today. Bless you!
Shalom
